Was Nervous: Pankaj Tripathi Opens Up About ‘Minimal Clothing’ Scene in Metro… In Dino
Pankaj Tripathi, the king of subtle acting, is now stepping into bold territory and doing it with class, humor, and a little bit of nervousness.
Pankaj Tripathi, the veteran Bollywood actor widely recognized for his soulful acting and effortless charisma, has always impressed fans of his acting in films like Stree, Newton, Mimi and other films or TV shows like Mirzapur, however, forget all that, Pankaj Tripathi is now in the news for something VERY different a scene in the upcoming anthology film Metro… In Dino, he appears to be in “minimal clothing.”
The otherwise humble and grounded actor just revealed that he felt nervous while shooting this scene. But honestly, who wouldn’t? It’s not every day one of India’s premier actors finds himself baring all in front of the camera.
“I Was a Little Nervous” – Pankaj Tripathi Gets Candid
At a promo event for Metro… In Dino, Pankaj Tripathi opened up about this unexpected moment on screen.
“Yes, there is a moment in the film where I had to wear minimal clothing. I’m not used to that,” Pankaj said while laughing. “I was also a little nervous. I mean, I have played a gangster, a father, and even a ghostbuster. But this… this is a first.”
He further explained that when he read the scene in the script, he thought it was a joke. “I asked the director, ‘Are you sure this is for me? Shouldn’t this go to someone younger with a gym body?’ But the director said, ‘No, sir, we want you. That’s the allure.”
Metro… Dino is directed by Anurag Basu, who has a knack for mixing comedy and emotions really well in films, which include Life in a… Metro and Barfi!.
Tripathi mentioned that Basu encouraged him and gave him the confidence to act out a very particular scene while explaining how the scene helped this character genuinely evolve rather than serve as a cheap gimmick.
Though it is being told in a laughing way, sometimes even seasoned actors like Pankaj Tripathi feel nervous or inadequate. But what is particularly fascinating is how he manages it, with humility and humour.
Metro… In Dino is a forthcoming anthology film that tells contemporary relationship stories. The film stars an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neena Gupta.
The film analyses human emotions in an ever-changing urban world. It also brings Anurag Basu back to the anthology format after Life in a… Metro.
Tripathi’s character is exploring loneliness and rediscovery, and yes, this “minimal clothing” moment contributes to that emotional journey.
